| John C. Brown has threatened or filed over two dozen legal actions against telemarketers that have left prerecorded messages on home answering machines in the San Francisco Bay Area. The majority of the cases have settled, with many of the telemarketers agreeing not to advertise in the Bay Area any further. Since the settlements, residents of San Francisco have reported dramatically decreased numbers of prerecorded messages. |
