Laura V. Best graduated with honors from
Stanford University in 1977. She went on to the Santa Clara University
School of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude, in 1980.
While at that university she served as
research assistant to former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Arthur J. Goldberg,
a visiting law professor, and as law clerk for Justice Wiley W. Manuel
of the California Supreme Court.
In 1980, Ms. Best joined the National Labor
Relations Board as a trial attorney in its San Francisco Regional Office.
She subsequently joined the San Francisco law firm of Morrison & Foerster,
where she served as associate, partner and co-chair of the firm’s labor
and employment practice.
Ms. Best's practice spans all aspects of
labor and employment law. She has successfully litigated numerous
cases before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. She
has also served as an employment law counselor and conducted training
seminars for businesses in a diverse array of industries.
Ms. Best has been a member of the Labor
and Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association, and has served
as Chair of the ABA Committee on Employee Rights and Responsibilities.
She is a member of the Advisory Board for Child Advocates of Santa Clara
County, and is a past President of its Board of Directors
